Hello and welcome to Kettlebell Movement!
Today I am addressing how often you should train every week. I hear this question from every client I ever meet, and rightfully so. Most people want to get as much benefit from their time training as possible, but don’t want to over do it and get injured or burned out. Excessive exercising is common for people with extreme personalities, these people often go up and down in weight as they go from one extreme to the other. For other people, not training enough will stop them from reaching their goals and kill their motivation.
It is important to remember, exercise is stress. If you aren’t recovering from the stress of your daily life, adding another stress could be very detrimental to your health. If this is the case for you, turn your physical practice time toward tai chi, yoga or chi gong to cultivate vital energy instead of expend it swinging heavy kettlebells. Your diet, sleep, emotional and mental state and energy level will help direct you to what is best for you from day to day.
My video this week will talk more in depth about the frequency of training that is best for you. My intention is to help you reach your goals as fast as possible without wasting time with strategies that don’t provide results. If you strength train with kettlebells, bodyweight and other free weights properly, you should not only change the shape of your body, but reduce the risk of injury in your daily life while you’re doing it. It is my belief that your physical practice should help prevent injury, and certainly not cause it. Pay close attention to everything your body tells you when you train. This will ensure that you stay pain free and get the results you want.
