Clean and Jerk Challenge

The Idea behind this challenge is to use a heavy bell to keep the pace slow but still finish in under ten minues. The bell I used was 40% of my bodyweight and I didn’t finish in time! I didn’t have a clock in front of me as I was filming and I think it took me almost twelve minutes.

After extensive hours of fiddling with the footage to speed it up and cut and splice to save face, we finally gave up and posted it like it was. Just kidding, in all seriousness though, moments like this are great because now I can post the challenge again in the future and try and beat the ten minute mark.

When you select your weight, use a heavy bell, and if like me, you don’t finish in time you can retry after some practice and post your progress for us. Alternately, if you don’t feel confident with a heavy weight, use a lighter bell and make sure you do it in the ten minute mark. Then, try again in the future with a heavier bell after you’ve developed the strength. Either way, let us know how you progress in this challenge!

Todays Challenge:

  • 50 Kettlebell Clean & Jerk
  • 25 per hand with a heavy bell, approximately 30-40% of your bodyweight)

Make sure you warm up appropriately before you begin. I used a backswing with each rep off the ground as you can see, this is to be as efficient as possible. However, it may take a little more time than cleaning it straight from dead. Make sure you lock out the elbow and load the lat with each rep overhead and pay attention to your body, stay safe.

Post your final result with weight used and time taken!
