Welcome to our lesson on Kettlebell Movement!

Today we are going to learn the one arm push up. The one arm push up is an exercise that appears much harder than it is to many people, and therefore, they never attempt it themselves. Other people have tried the one arm push up, but without first learning the right technique and progressions necessary, they fail miserably and never try again. While the one arm pushup may seem like an exercise best suited for showing off to your friends, it can have major benefits in your strength training too. The one arm push up is a way that you can take your body weight training to the next level by increasing the resistance in the usual push up significantly. It will be harder to do a single one arm pushup than ten regular pushups, so get ready for a fun challenge! The one arm push up will also help you develop strength more evenly from side to side, unlike the two handed push up, which can be favored on one side, and usually is!

In todays video, I will be demonstrating how to make the one arm push up easier so you can progress at your own pace. I will also show you proper technique to make sure you stay balanced and don’t allow your body weight to feel heavier than it should. Maintain a tight plank throughout the entire exercise and make sure you don’t down dog, or hinge at the hip or spine. Before attempting this exercise, make sure you are able to perform normal two handed push ups as the one arm push up is a big progression!

Add this exercise to your kettlebell routine, as it lets your grip muscles rest a little. This exercise has a lot in common with kettlebell moves that train your body evenly from side to side, and create unity from top to bottom. Keep the reps short at first, and remember, frequency is more important than intensity when you are developing this kind of strength.

Thank you for joining me,
