Welcome to Kettlebell Movement, today is a quick video about what’s going on with me and an intro into our next series of Wednesday videos. I recently suffered from an injury that slowed my training significantly, my body was trying to tell me to slow down and it made sure I listened. Between training clients, making videos and my own physical practice, I am on my feet a lot so it was difficult to rest the way I needed. In fact, I probably extended the recovery time necessary by a full month because I didn’t rest enough. With that said, I have had plenty of time to contemplate my strategy for regaining the strength and flexibility I had before my injury. Now that I am feeling better I honestly can’t wait to get back into the gym, even if that means starting with the basics and training more strength and stability than power, like I am used to. I always have enjoyed the big powerful lifts, the one arm dead snatch is my all time favorite. While I know there will be a time when I step up to my big bell for dead snatches in the not too distant future, it isn’t what I’m going to do now. I am going to get back in action with a selection of exercises, some simple and some complex, that are all about developing a rock solid base. I am going to develop strength and flexibility that will carry over and prevent injury when performing other lifts, and moving in every day life.
If you have been unable to train the way you wanted to recently, because of a lack of motivation, a hectic schedule or like me, because of injury, then this series of videos is for you. I am going to take you through workouts designed to build you back from the ground up, developing strength in all ranges of motion. I will increase the complexity as we progress throughout the weeks, each practice building to the next. Stay mindful of your technique and stay focused every step of the way, this will by no means be easy. Complex movement can be performed with light weights at first, it won’t be long until you move up once you get the technique down. Stay tuned and let me help you get back into shape from whatever it is that’s been keeping you from training!
Thanks for joining me,
Peter Hirsh
